Last year I (who have an A level in maths), sat the "Primary Maths Challenge." It is a paper for those in Year 6 (11 year - olds) designed to stretch the brighter pupils but not be outside what one would be taught in the top set in a state primary school. I thought it would be easy, but God has His ways of humbling our pride. . . You can have a go here. I have never yet got 100% on it in one sitting.
All this as an antidote to muttering too much as oldies about grade inflation in the face of the exam results. The GCSE results have arrived. With a 100% pass rate and 97% grades A* - C the young people at Haileybury and their teachers are much to be congratulated. The full results are on the school website here.
