Welcome

Haileyburiana is a miscellany of things I got up to as President of the Haileybury Society in 2010 - 2011 and random musings on things to do with Haileybury. Whether you are an OH, a current pupil or parent, a teacher or other friend of the school I hope you will find something interesting here. The blog is no longer regularly updated, but there may still be occasional posts.

The Grubber

The Grubber has changed a bit since the days of scrambled egg sandwiches.

Here are some pictures of the swish interior as it is now.

But what they have not got is the pizza making machine I saw in the new student accommodation at Tottenham Hale last week. You pout £3 in at one end and a stone baked pizza comes out at the other!

Scrambled Egg Sandwiches

Wall outside the old Grubber, pockmarked by the pennies of queuing boys
My spy in the Removes dormitory in Lawrence tells me that not the least change in the move up from Lower School is being allowed to use the Grubber. Its current incarnation is in what used to be the Centenary Studies near where in my day there was a CPs common room. In these enlightened egalitarian days CPs are not allowed to jump the queue as they once were. Some things don't change though: they still sell hot scrambled egg sandwiches. And bacon rolls.
